At a glance: Prephysical Therapy
Students interested in prephysical therapy vocations work closely with Dr. Rema Suniga, 419-772-2323, the program advisor. She assists students in course selection so as to tailor their academic experience to the requirements of the various Pre-PT and Pre-OT graduate programs. Students are provided and encouraged to participate in related internship experiences.
These curricula prepare students for entry into post-baccalaureate programs in physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT). Programs generally require a stronger background preparation in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics than other programs. Psychology and exercise physiology also are required. Both curricula may include completion of clinical experience hours in a PT/OT setting. Course and admission requirements may vary from school to school, but an overall GPA of 3.2 is recommended. Students who finish either curricula are awarded a Bachelor of Science in biology. There has been a 100 percent acceptance rate into graduate programs since 1998.
