All are invited to a presentation by Amanda (Mandi) Horvath, BS ’06, during which she will share stories about her adventures as an environmental education volunteer with the US Peace Corps.

Mandi served from 2007-2010 in the schools of Ayolas, Paraguay, teaching about trash, recycling, organic materials, gardening, and wildlife. She organized bird festivals for the 5thand 6thgraders, formed a community eco group called Eco-Ayolas, and hosted a radio show every week to talk (in Spanish and Guarani) about different environmental topics and events the group was planning.

Mandi now works as a US Fish and Wildlife biologist in Denver, Colorado. She is active in the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Colorado, serving on the board of directors, coordinating welcome-home initiatives for the newest returned volunteers, working in a community garden, and helping restore hiking trails. She also volunteers with a local NGO called Groundwork Denver on community environmental initiatives in the Spanish speaking communities around Denver.

Every wonder what it’s like to live in another language?

If the answer is YES!, if you’re looking for a way to bring service and meaning into your life and your career, then you want to come hear what Mandi has to say.
