Partnering Today for Tomorrow’s Leaders
The Concurrent Enrollment program provides participating high schools with a unique and sustainable way to deliver rigorous curriculum to their students through college level courses taught in their home facility by qualified faculty members. The concurrent enrollment program allows for a broad range of student participation by eliminating the need for students to leave their high school campus in order to attend college courses.
Benefits
Participating in a Concurrent Enrollment program benefits both students and high schools. Benefits of the program include:
- Providing rigorous postsecondary academic challenges to high school students in their own supportive high school environment;
- Providing college access to a broad range of students by placing actual college courses within high schools;
- Affording students and families savings in the overall cost of higher education;
- Focusing student learning on critical thinking and writing skills;
- Evaluating students with multiple and varied assessments, rather than on one high-stakes test;
- Creating spillover effects that “raise the bar” throughout partner schools even in non concurrent enrollment courses;
- Fostering strong local networks among secondary and postsecondary educators that result in a seamless transition for students as they move from high school to college.
