The Capital Leadership Award Application

The Capital Leadership Award is designed to assist qualified Arts & Sciences and Engineering students in paying for expenses associated with internships or co-operative experiences in the Washington, DC area. For simplicity, hereafter the term internship will be used to refer to both types of experiential education experiences.

All students applying for this award must complete the Financial Aid for International Study/Domestic Internships form and submit it to Financial Aid by the deadline below. Applicants who have not completed the financial aid form will not be considered for the Capital Leadership Award.

Explain why this internship is important to your personal, academic, and professional goals. If relevant, identify any particular financial need that the Capital Leadership Award might help offset, should you receive it. Your essay must be 600-800 words and have a title, one-inch margins, and your name at the top of each page. Use a standard, serif font (e.g. Garamond, Times New Roman) of not less than 10- and not more than 12-point. Your essay may be single- or double-spaced, but if single-spaced, place a blank line between paragraphs. Follow standard English spelling, punctuation, and grammar conventions.
