ONU/AMA Students Win Award at National Conference

The Ohio Northern American Marketing Association (AMA) recently traveled to the National Chapter Conference in New Orleans taking eight club members and advisor Professor Randall Ewing. Roughly 1,400 marketing students representing 190 universities were present at this conference. The members were provided with opportunities to excel in their personal and professional lives by means of competitive, educational, leadership, and career activities. ONU Students Place Second in National Management Competition

Two teams from Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration competed in the Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) Case Competition from April 8-11. The first ONU team finished second in the Rutherford Undergraduate division. Its members were Jacquelyn Dunham Waggamon, a senior management major from Lima, Ohio, Melissa Smith, a junior management major from Utica, Ohio, Nicole Fleischman, a junior pharmaceutical business major from Beaver Falls, Pa., Josephine Dunham, a freshman business administration major from Lima, Ohio, and Larry Perry, a senior pharmaceutical business major from Defiance, Ohio. Drs Michele and Paul Govekar will serve as co-Presidents of the North American Management Society

Drs Michele (Professor of Management) and Paul (Associate Professor of Management) Govekar will serve as co-Presidents of the North American Management Association for 2010-2011. Posters at the Capitol

Seventeen Ohio Northern University students will be among more than 50 students from northwest Ohio taking part in Posters at the Capitol in Columbus, Ohio, on April 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This marks the third year that students from Ohio Northern will present their undergraduate research in posters at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. U.S. Congressman to Speak at Ohio Northern University

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan will speak at Ohio Northern University in The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration’s Dicke Forum on Monday, April 19, at 10 a.m. Jordan, who represents the Ohio 4th District, will conduct an economic forum with Dr. David McClough’s macroeconomics class. This event is open to the public. Jordan will also accompany Dr. Jeff Gray, chairman of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, on a tour of the Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences. The center is home to chemistry and biochemistry, two of the institution's signature programs. ONU to Introduce Student-run Business, Polar Merchandise

Ohio Northern University will introduce Polar Merchandise, the University’s first student-run business, during a press conference in the Dicke Hall boardroom on Tuesday, April 13, at 3 p.m. Polar Merchandise will sell branded merchandise with optional personalized graphics on more than 200,000 branded products. The company aims to provide students with a laboratory experience in the business world. In developing and executing every aspect of the company, including sales, marketing, budget management, legal issues and financial reporting, students will gain valuable project management skills. David M. Savino selected as Membership & Program Chair for the North American Management Society (NAMS)

David M. Savino is the Membership & Program Chair elect for the North American Management Society (NAMS) for 2010-2011. NAMS is a professional division of the Midwest Business Administration Association (MBAA). The major duties include working to attract more Management and Human Resource research papers to be presented at the annual MBAA International Conference each spring. Cardinal Health CEO to Speak at ONU

The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University presents Michael Kaufmann, CEO of the pharmaceutical segment of Cardinal Health, in the next installment of the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the Dicke Forum. Titled “More Than Just Brains,” the lecture is free and open to the public. Kaufmann is a 1985 graduate of ONU’s College of Business Administration. Since beginning his career at Cardinal Health in 1990, he has held a number of senior operational, sales and finance roles, primarily within Cardinal Health’s pharmaceutical businesses. College of Business Administration Named as One of the Top 111

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration was named one of the top 111 undergraduate business programs in the U.S. by Bloomberg BusinessWeek in its fifth annual rankings of undergraduate business programs.Ohio Northern, which had not been previously ranked, came in at No. 72 overall. ONU earned high marks in the nine categories used for the rankings, including an A+ in the “Teaching Quality Grade” category and a B in the “Facilities and Services Grade” category.Dr. James W.
