David C. Crago, Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law dean and professor of law, has been named ONU’s interim vice president of academic affairs, effective July 1.
Crago, who will remain dean of the College of Law, takes on the responsibilities of the departing Dr. Anne Lippert, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Lippert, who has been with ONU since 1971, has served as vice president since 1992.
Dr. Kendall L. Baker, ONU president, said, “Dean Crago has provided excellent leadership as the dean of the College of Law, and I am confident he will demonstrate these same outstanding abilities as he leads ONU’s academic division.”

Three Ohio Northern University students made history this year at the Society for the Advancement of Management’s (SAM) International Business Conference, held in Las Vegas, Nev.
For the first time in the five years that ONU has been participating in the SAM conference, ONU students were recognized for their outstanding work. Senior marketing and management major Justin Frazer of Middletown, OH, senior management major Michael Lodestro of Falconer, NY and junior management major Jaki Dunham of Lima, OH comprised the team that earned fourth place in the case competition at this year’s conference.

Eleven members of the ONU American Marketing Association (AMA), along with advisor Randall Ewing, associate professor of marketing, attended the organization's national conference in New Orleans. This collegiate conference provides competitive, educational, leadership and career opportunities. The conference was attended by 1,300 marketing students representing 126 universities from across the country.

Dr. Paul Govekar, assistant professor of management, has been named Ohio Northern University's faculty athletic representative to the Ohio Athletic Conference and the NCAA effective April 1.
"I look forward to working with the amazing student-athletes who work hard to sustain high levels of achievement in both their academics and on-field performance," Govekar said.
Faculty advisors represent each of the 10 schools in the OAC and have a vote in the OAC meetings. They also oversee the Academic All-OAC teams and the Clyde Lamb Scholarship Award for the top senior male and female student-athletes from each of the 10 schools.
Govekar has taught in The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration since 2004.

The Ohio Northern University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) garnered the first runner-up position at the SIFE USA Regional Competition on March 24 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The regional competition was comprised of 19 four-year institutions and three two-year colleges. The event was one of 16 SIFE USA Regional Competitions held throughout March and April. The winners from all regional competitions will proceed to SIFE's National Exposition in Philadelphia, Pa., from May 10-12. This is the fourth year that ONU SIFE has placed as one of the top two teams.

Not only has he been riding motorcycles and driving cars that he has personally modified for speed and control since he was 16, he is applying that passion and skill to the Nascent 500 Business Plan Challenge.

After four years of planning, Ohio Northern is now offering the Continuous Achievement Scholarship to one student in each undergraduate college.
A joint venture of the Office of Financial Aid and Student Senate, the Continuous Achievement Scholarship will recognize students based on academic improvement from high school to college and commitment to improving the University community through leadership activities.
This is the only scholarship at ONU to recognize students for academic and extracurricular performance during their collegiate careers. David McClough, visiting assistant professor of economics at Ohio Northern University, will discuss "The Current Economic Meltdown, Recession and Globalization" during the Phi Beta Delta International Forum in the Dicke Forum on Monday, March 16, from 7 to 8 p.m.
McClough will discuss the U.S. economic recession in a global context, with an emphasis on how the decline in the United States has spread to other economies.
