Businesses interested in selling goods in China will benefit from research by students in Dr. Peter Banfe’s international marketing course in The James F. The new Wall of Honor in the lobby of The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration is an original piece of wall sculpture, sponsored by American Trim.
Audra Keiber, artist with American Trim’s Lima, Ohio, facility, says when Steve Hatkevich, director of research and development for the company, asked if she wanted to take on the project, she looked for inspiration in the building itself.
“When Toby (ONU’s First Lady Toby Baker, BFA '06) was telling me about the essence of the building and brought me through to do a tour, I saw such a great mix of materials, the angular structure and the awesome growth line, a significant symbol in business. So we did an abstract to try and capture the essence of the building,” Keiber says.

After retiring from ONU several years ago, Dr. Ken Cooper returns as Visiting Professor of Finance to fill the position left vacant by Dr. Jeff Heinfeldt. “We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber to fill this position. The DCBA now has two very respected professors who have returned, as Prof. Roger Young re-joined us a few years ago.” says Prof. Art Elsass who worked with both of them during their previous tenure. Dr. Cooper had served as Dean of the College of Business and Professor of Management and Finance.

This summer, the Global Business Issues Journal was approved for inclusion in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities. Being listed is a big step in the growth of the GBIJ from a student, ONU specific journal, to one which now can attract contributions from students and faculty at other universities. Cabell’s is somewhat of a seal of credibility for journals for academic research recognized by the AACSB.

More than 60 alumni and friends golfed at the 2nd annual Scholarship Golf Outing on July 19th, 2010 at the Shawnee Country Club. The outing raises funds for scholarships directly in the Dicke College of Business Administration. The college and our students will benefit from nearly$10,000 raised during the outing from the generosity of many alumni, faculty, staff and friends.

A team of students from Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration and T.J. Smull College of Engineering won the 2010 Illinois Institute of Technology’s Innovation Chase on Friday, April 3.The competition focused on a product-development problem. Teams prepared project plans, idea pitches, ethnographic studies and prototypes before making a final team presentation. Each winning team member was awarded $500.ONU defeated teams from the University of Illinois-Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), University of Detroit/Mercy, the Milwaukee School of Engineering and the graduate program at IIT’s Institute of Design.
