ONU Honor Society of Nursing
It is the intent of Ohio Northern University Honor Society of Nursing to become a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. The mission of Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in healthcare worldwide. Joining an honor society signifies one's commitment to excellence in his or her chosen profession and acknowledges the individual's academic achievements. The specific purposes of the ONU Honor Society of Nursing are to:
- Recognize superior achievment
- Recognize the development of leadership qualities
- Foster high professional standards
- Encourage creative work, and
- Strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession.
Being inducted into an honor society signifies that one is a leader in his or her profession and has demonstrated excellence or has deomonstrated the potential for excellence and leadership. The Honor Society inducted its intial members in May 2010. These members were selected for their academc and professional performance. This years induction ceremony will occur April 27, 2013.
