This is a solemn, yet momentous occasion for the P3 students. At this ceremony, the students will be asked to take an oath of Professional Commitment and given White Coats to signify their commitment to the profession and their future patients.
The ceremony is held in the Field House of the King Horn Sports Center on ONU's campus in Ada, OH; date provided below under "Important Dates." Parking is free and available close to the ceremony on a first come/first served basis. The location of the King Horn Center can be found on the map at http://www-new.onu.edu/about_onu/maps_and_directions. It is number 28 on the map (wheelchair and stroller accessible) .
Mentors should plan to arrive in the Field House 45 minutes before the ceremony to line-up and get instructions. The ceremony will last approximately one hour. There will be a reception (with appetizers) following the ceremony in the Field House.

FAQ's
- What time is the ceremony?
The ceremony is November 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Field House. Students and mentors need to be there at 9:45 AM.
- Who will receive an invitation?
Your parents will receive a formal invitation in the mail the first week of October. The entire family is welcome and no tickets are necessary. Students and mentors will not receive a formal invitation. Mentors will receive e-mail notifications about the ceremony and links to this website. Please check with your mentor to make sure they received the e-mail correspondence.
- Who can be a mentor?
A mentor must be a pharmacist or pharmacy student (no exceptions)!
- How do I register my mentor?
Please see the link above.
- What if I don’t have someone that I want to ask to be my mentor?
A mentor will be assigned to you in October. It will be a P5 or a faculty member.
- How will the ceremony proceed?
The white coats will be passed out before the ceremony. They will be given to your mentor when you line up. This will eliminate having the stage crowded with tables for the white coats and the need to pass them out during the ceremony.
You will receive your previously signed 'Code of Professionalism' from Dr. Sprague on stage. It will be in a plastic folder to keep it from getting torn or wrinkled. You will read the abbreviated oath at the end of the ceremony.
Dean Sprague will give the opening and closing remarks. The entire ceremony should not last too much longer than an hour.
- Is there a reception after the ceremony?
There will be a reception immediately following for you and your guests. There will be light appetizers.
- What is the dress code?
Dress should be professional. If you wear a suit, you should leave your jacket at home since you will be putting on and wearing a white coat. Your mentor should also dress professionally, but not in a white coat.
- Where should the guests sit?
Programs and seating will be available for your guests during the time before the ceremony while you are lining up.
