Clinical laboratory science students Natasha Axton, BS ’08, from Cambridge, Ohio, and Katie Bowen, a senior from Brunswick, Ohio, are co-authors of an article published in MLO LABline, a monthly online newsletter produced by the publishers of MLO (Medical Laboratory Observer.)

Ashton and Bowen’s article, “Point-of-care Glucose Meters Vs. Centralized Laboratory Serum Testing,” is the first by students to be published in a new student-centered section of the newsletter.

The Ohio Northern University Asian American Student Union (AASU), in cooperation with the Muslim and Indian Student Associations, will hold its first Cultural Auction Night to benefit the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti on Feb. 10 in the McIntosh activities room from 6-9 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

Ohio Northern University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and Cell Phones for Soldiers are collecting old and unused cell phones for American soldiers. The drive, which begins Jan. 4, is expected to bring in more than 50,000 phones, which will finance the purchase of pre-paid calling cards for soldiers stationed overseas.

Local residents and Ohio Northern students can drop off phones at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library through Feb. 28, 2010, or at the Hardin County and Ada Public libraries through April 30, 2010.

Each year, Pi Sigma Alpha selects four schools with enrollments less than 6,000 to win the award. Winning schools must exhibit exemplary activity in their departments and universities. According to Pi Sigma Alpha's national office, the award recognizes chapters that "exhibit high levels of energy and creativity in furthering the goals of the honor society."
