Engineering Students Take First Place Award With Autonomous Aircraft Design
Two ONU senior mechanical engineering students recently took first place at a regional student conference with their senior capstone project. Nick Schifer of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Matt Schuster of Worthington, Ohio, recently traveled to the Region 3 student conference of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) to present a report on the project. This year, the conference was hosted by the AIAA chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

APhA-ASP Chapter Wins National Award
ONU captured top honors against 69 APhA-ASP pharmacy chapters competing in a patient care project. The award is based on originality, level of student participation, level of collaboration with other campus organizations and overall impact of heartburn education on the public health of the local community.

Concrete Canoe Team Places First, Qualifies for National Competition
The Ohio Northern University concrete-canoe team captured first place in the American Society of Civil Engineers' regional concrete-canoe contest at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich., April 2-4. The victory qualifies ONU to compete in the national competition in Tuscaloosa, Ala., June 11-13.

ONU Student Wins Ping Award for Community Service
Feldhues received a $250 legacy grant as part of the award. Dr. Kendall L. Baker, Ohio Northern University president, nominated Feldhues in recognition of her work as coordinator of the Ada Friends program.

ONU Senior Selected as Goldwater Scholar
Ohio Northern University senior James Gallagher, a physics major from Medina, Ohio, has been selected as a 2009 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Excellence in Education Program. Students Attend Social Studies Convention
On Friday March 27, six ONU students and Professor Russ Crawford attended the Ohio Council for the Social Studies Annual Convention in Worthington. Along with Crawford, Matt Fox (SR Social Studies, Cardington, OH), Brian Hoefel (SR Social Studies, Akron, OH), and Aaron Stiger (SR Social Studies, Wapakoneta, OH) presented a session on Using Sport to Teach the Social Studies to the secondary teachers gathered there.
