Apotex Corporation and Ohio Northern University's Raabe College of Pharmacy today announced the formation of a partnership that will develop a new community pharmacy simulation software package.

ONU and Apotex will jointly develop software that provides students with a computer simulation program intended to replicate managing retail pharmacy operations. The software is being designed to have application for pharmacy colleges across the country and will help prepare students for their eventual service in the profession of pharmacy.

Jim Reiselman, professor of pharmacy practice, has conducted initial analyses and will spearhead the project. Dr. Jon Sprague, dean of the College of Pharmacy, states, "The college is very appreciative of the partnership opportunity Apotex is providing us to deliver a very important learning tool to help prepare students for their service to the pharmacy profession."

Apotex is making the project possible through a donation of $75,000 to the College of Pharmacy's Pharmacy Skills Enrichment Fund. Apotex Corp. President Tammy McIntire said, "We are extremely pleased to be partnering with ONU to develop what promises to be a very effective tool for pharmacy schools and students. Since its inception, Apotex has been a committed supporter of community pharmacy. So, we are naturally thrilled to support an initiative that will help turn today's pharmacy students into tomorrow's retail pharmacy professionals."
