ONU to Host Idea Pitch Competitions
Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration will host entrepreneurial idea pitch competitions for area high school and college students on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 5-9 p.m. in James F. Dicke Hall.
Approximately 10 high school students from several area high schools will compete for a number of $2,000-a-year renewable scholarships to attend Ohio Northern University. Thirty college students will compete for $1,000 in cash prizes awarded through the generosity of the Kern Family Foundation.
The idea pitch competitions require applicants to prepare two-minute presentations and answer questions from judges about their ideas. Ideas fall into one of the following categories: improvement of society anywhere in the world, improvement of human health care for any group on the planet, use of technology to improve our lives, and creation of new businesses and jobs.
Previous college winners include Callie Crum, a junior communication arts major from Cardington, Ohio, who presented an idea for improving recycling on college campuses, and Chris Corrado, a senior marketing major from Cincinnati, Ohio, who presented an idea for an underwater miniature golf course.
These competitions aim to encourage creativity, innovation and the entrepreneurial mindset in our next generation of business and civic leaders while challenging the best young minds from across the Midwest to create and share ideas for improving our world.
