SSHP Chapter Receives Grant

The Ohio Northern University Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists had been awarded a grant from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Leadership Speakers Bureau.

The Leadership Speakers Bureau offers grants to student societies across the nation to discuss the topic of leadership. The grant aims to engage pharmacy students in an exchange on the topic of leadership as a professional obligation, explain why leadership is necessary for professional growth, and describe leadership as a learned attribute through formal leadership educational opportunities and informal processes, which must be practiced to be successful. This is the second consecutive year that Ohio Northern’s student chapter has received the grant.

This year, the funds will be used to hold a meeting for the student body of the Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy and will feature speaker Rob Mains, R.Ph. Mains is the vice president of pharmacy services and quality for Safecor Health and president-elect of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The meeting will take place in April and will inform students on how to incorporate pharmacy leadership within their career and through professional organizations.

The ONU SSHP is a student organization for students who are pursuing a pharmacy career in health-systems. SSHP is one of the largest pharmacy organizations on campus, and holds monthly meetings and additional outreach activities to offer its members knowledge and experience regarding opportunities and careers in the health-systems.
