Learning From a Master

Ohio Northern University’s Getty College of Arts & Sciences welcomed renowned New York cabaret songwriter John Bucchino on Friday, March 19, for a Master Class and concert with students from ONU’s theatre, musical theatre and music programs.

Bucchino’s Master Class continues ONU’s tradition of bringing world-class artists and performers to campus to provide our students an unmatched educational experience.

Bucchino, whose songs have been performed and recorded by such artists as Liza Minnelli, Judy Collins, Yo Yo Ma, Art Garfunkel and Patti LuPone, spent Saturday, March 20, working individually with eight music and musical theatre students. On Sunday, March 21, he and the students presented a public concert of his works in Snyder Recital Hall.

He has written scores for the musicals “Urban Myths,” “Lavender Girl,” Broadway’s “A Catered Affair,” “It’s Only Life” and the Dreamworks animated film “Joseph, King of Dreams.”
