Dr. Sunny Zank is a professor of music with teaching experience in music theory, music history, electronic music, composition, non-western music and violin/viola. She is active in the College Music Society, National Association of Schools of Music and Japan Studies Association. She came to ONU in 1993 because she was looking for a smallish private university where she could share her many diverse talents with students and community. In 1999 she began to actively work towards building an Asian Studies program at ONU. Today, there is a minor in Asian Studies and there is an Asian American Student Union on campus. While Dr. Zank has lived and studied in the US, Canada and Europe she thinks of herself mostly as a Canadian. In the summer it is common to find her in her organic strawberry patch. Some of the berries even make it to the freezer.
