Pettit College of Law to Host Lecture on Constitution
Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will host a lecture by Sanford V. Levinson, University of Texas professor of law and government, as part of the Kormendy Lecture Series and the law school’s celebration of its 125th anniversary. The event will take place in the law school’s Moot Court Room on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

ONU to Host Fall Open House

Ohio Northern University will host a fall open house for high school seniors on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fenton Named Contributing Expert
Howard Fenton, professor of law and director of the LL.M. program, has been listed as a United States Contributing Expert in the World Justice Project 2010 Rule of Law Index Report. 


Professor Receives Grant for Contributions to Patient Care
Dr. Kristen Finley Sobota, Ohio Northern University assistant professor of pharmacy practice, has received the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation (NACDS) Community Pharmacy Faculty Award. She has been awarded a grant for community outreach programs that will be used to continue various health and wellness screenings in Hardin and Allen counties.

Loughlin Presents Paper
Dr. Michael Loughlin, professor of history, presented a paper titled “Antimilitarism in France from the Dreyfus Affair until World War I: Gustave Hervé and the Affiche  Rouge“  at the 38th annual  conference of the Western Society for French History.

Math Faculty Members’ Article to be Published
Dr. Mihai Caragiu, associate professor of mathematics, and Dr. Mohammad Zaki, visiting assistant professor of mathematics, are coauthors of an article which has been accepted for publication in the Fibonacci Quarterly. 

'An American in China'

Dr. Russ Crawford, assistant professor of history, will present “An American or Two in China, Summer 2010,” a slide and lecture at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28, in the Dicke Hall Forum.

Mager: ‘Lessons for a Loonatic’

Jay Mager, assistant professor of biological sciences, will present a program "Lessons for a Loonatic: what we currently know about loon ecology, behavior, conservation, and management" for the Greater Akron Audubon Society on Oct. 26.

Sprague Joins Panel Discussions with Ohio Governor Candidates
Dr. Jon Sprague, dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy, was invited to participate in the Lima News Editorial Board/Community Forum with Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on Sept. 24 and challenger John Kasich on Oct. 19.

Sheely Attends Federal Advisor Training
Nancy Sheely, assistant director of career services, recently attended Federal Advisor Training sponsored by the Partnership for Public Service at Eastern Michigan University.

Town and Gown Banquet Set
The 45th annual Ada Town and Gown Banquet will be held Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of McIntosh Center.

Hill Silent Auction Benefits The Northern Fund
The annual Hill Silent Auction to benefit The Northern Fund is now underway. ONU faculty, staff and students can bid on a variety of items until 1 p.m., Nov. 3.

United Way Campaign Continues
The United Way of Hardin County is beginning its annual campaign. This year’s goal is a repeat of last year’s $200,000 to support 22 community agencies. The ONU community is a major supporter of the campaign.

Faculty/Staff Fridays – the Write Stuff
Finding a spot for uninterrupted writing can be as challenging for faculty and staff as it is for students. That’s why the Heterick Memorial Library (HML) and Communication Skills Center (CSC) have teamed up to offer Faculty/Staff Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. on the second floor of the library.

Engineering Students Attend Ohio Contractor Association Day
Engineering’s Structures 1 Class, taught by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mohti, assistant professor of civil engineering, attended Ohio Contractor Association (OCA) Day on Oct.21.

Law Cleans Up
The Environmental Law Society cleans up a two-mile stretch of road on SR 81 once each semester, and invites others on campus to participate in this community service event.

PRSSA Members, Chapter Honored
At the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) awards banquet in Washington D.C., Oct. 16-19, six Ohio Northern students and graduates received honors, the ONU chapter of PRSSA received two awards and an alumnus spoke.

Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship

The Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University has partnered with AmerisourceBergen Corporation to create the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship Fund available to ONU pharmacy students seeking a career in retail community pharmacy.

Study abroad is open to ONU students in all majors. For some it is required for graduation. On Friday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the McIntosh Activities Room, the second annual study abroad fair will give students the opportunity to learn more.
