Student elected to SAM Executive Board

Ohio Northern University student Matthew Dutro, a junior management major from Dayton, Ohio, was elected to the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) Executive Board at the SAM International Business Conference in Orlando, Fla, which took place from Thursday, March 31, to Sunday, April 3.

“I am really honored to be given this opportunity,” said Dutro. “Even though I only just joined SAM this year, I feel as though I am well prepared to effectively take on this responsibility.”

Each year, three students are elected to serve as full voting members of the SAM governing board. These students participate in regular board meetings to represent student concerns and work on special projects to assist future organizational leaders.

Dutro received his portfolio of office from Dr. Moustafa Abdelsamad, president and CEO of SAM, at the conference awards banquet on Saturday, April 2.

At Ohio Northern, along with his participation in SAM, Dutro plays men’s varsity tennis, serves on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and is active the honorary Sigma Iota Epsilon.

Founded in 1912 as the Taylor Society, Northern’s SAM chapter is open to any student interested in improving organizational management through interaction among practitioners, professors and students.
