Ohio Northern Professor to Address Energy Independence
"Energy Independence: Washington's Persistent Romantic Fantasy" will be the title of a public lecture by A.F. Alhajji, Ph.D., associate professor of economics at Ohio Northern University.
The lecture will be 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the Forum of Dicke Hall on the campus of ONU.
In his presentation, Dr. Alhajji will address the following questions:
- Does "energy independence" trump the war on terror in Washington today? Why?
- How realistic is "energy independence"?
- What is the current "energy security" situation in the US?
- Will political posturing about energy independence backfire? How?
- Will oil-exporting countries react? How? What is the impact of such reactions on the US?
- Does "energy independence" help build a new democratic Iraq?
- What is the realistic approach to energy security?
Dr. Alhajji is a widely published oil analyst. He has contributed to academic journals and international publications, including the Energy Journal, OPEC Review, Journal of Forensic Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Energy and Development, Industry and the Environment, the Oil and Gas Journal, Middle East Economic Survey, Oil , Gas, and Energy Law and Dialogue.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
