Ohio Northern University’s Gospel Ensemble will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a concert in the ONU English Chapel on Sunday, April 29, at 4 p.m.Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, vice president for student affairs, dean of students, and director of the ensemble since its inception, says the ensemble began in 1987 with African-American students who wanted to share their heritage through gospel music. Ohio Northern University will host a benefit concert for Haitian orphanages on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the English Chapel.
The event is organized by Sarah Waters, visiting professor of music, Dennis Kratzer, professor of music, and Georgette Roby, a senior music performance major from Oak Harbor, Ohio.
The concert will include musical acts, a reading about the 1791 Haitian slave rebellion, and prayers. The ONU Men’s Chorus and University Singers are scheduled to perform.

Ohio Northern University junior Katherine Feldhues, a youth ministry and sociology major from Milford, Ohio, has been honored with the 2009 Charles J. Ping Student Community Service Award from Ohio Campus Compact.
