Q: I'm an incoming freshman. When and where do I complete my housing application?
To complete the housing application online, please go to https://thd.onu.edu/applyonlineonu/. In the first set of text boxes, you will type your Login ID. This ID is made up of the first letter of your first name and then a dash and then your last name. For example, if your name is Polar Bear, your Login ID is P-Bear. We have provided the dash for you below.
In the Password/Birthdate box, enter your birthdate in mm/dd/yy format. For example, if your birthdate is December 7, 1981, your password would be 12/07/81.
Remember to complete the application completely and honestly so that we can pair you with your most compatible roommate!
Q: I am a new law student and am interested in living on campus. How do I apply for housing?
A: An e-mail notice will be sent to new law students. That e-mail message will contain all the information you need to know to apply for on campus housing.
Q: Where can I get information about meal plans?

Q: Am I permitted to have overnight guests in the residence halls?
A: Guests of the same gender may stay in your residence hall room provided your roommate approves and you have registered your guest with the Office of Residence Life. Please register your guest here. Visitors of the opposite gender may stay overnight only in upperclass halls and apartments (e.g., Lima Complex, Affinity Village, apartments) and only on the weekends.
Q: Where can I find the rules, polices and laws that I am required to follow as an Ohio Northern University student?
A: These are located in the Student Handbook. This handbook will answer any questions you may have about the ONU alcohol policy, quiet and courtesy hours, and pets, as well as any other questions you may have.
Q: Can I bring my car to campus?
A: Yes. All students are permitted to bring a vehicle to campus and required to register their vehicle by purchasing a parking permit from the Security Office. The Security Office can be reached at 419-772-2222.
Q: Can I bring my bicycle to campus?
A: Yes. Many ONU students have bicycles since this is a residential campus and most students do not drive a car to and from class. You can obtain an identification sticker from the Security Office for your bicycle.
Q: What items are provided to me in my residence hall room (e.g. desks, chairs, etc.)?

Q: What are the bathrooms like?
A: The bathrooms vary depending on living environment. In the residence halls, there is a common bathroom area for the residents of a given wing. The bathrooms are designated for males or females. These bathrooms provide private showers and stalls. In the suites and apartments, there is a bathroom per each suite or apartment.
Q: Who can answer the many questions I may have when I arrive to campus?
A: There are Residence Life staff in every hallway and wing of every residence hall and in each apartment building. There is a staff person in the house with first-year student residents. Click on Residence Life Staff for more details.
Q: Is my personal property in my on-campus housing covered in case of damage or theft?
A: Your personal property is not covered by any university policies. However, most insurance companies will cover your items as part of your parents' home owners insurance. Check with your insurance company for information.
Q: I'm currently an ONU student and want to live off campus for the upcoming academic year. How do I apply to receive approval?
A: Answers to many of your questions about living off campus can be found on the Off-Campus Housing Info page.
Q: What are the requirements for living in an Apartment on campus?
A: During the first round of the student-housing lottery during spring semester, students with 60 credit hours can opt to live in on-campus apartments. In order to attempt to have a roommate that does not meet the 60-credit-hour requirement, you must wait to take place in the second round of the student-housing lottery process.
Q. What if I encounter GLBT issues in the halls?
A: Many GLBT students find that their roommate is very open and accepting. By request, we can assign you to a floor with a Residence Assistant who has a greater level of knowledge on GLBT issues. If your roommate is not so accepting, Residence Life staff members have been consistently helpful on GLBT issues. If you are having a problem
with your roommate because of GLBT issues, your RA or Head Resident usually will be able to help find a solution. If you don’t feel comfortable going directly to your RA or Head Resident, stop by and see the Director of Residence Life or the Counseling Center to help you find appropriate resources.
