A biological science education at Ohio Northern University includes the development of a strong foundation through investigative, integrative and conceptual approaches, along with encouragement of individual specialization. These specializations include field, forensic, molecular and organismal biology, or allied health sciences (medical laboratory science and pre-professional health programs). Distinctive features
Off-campus facilities include a 300-acre wetland restoration project, forensic body farm and the ONU Metzger Nature Center in eastern Ohio. The new Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences complex includes cadaver-dissection laboratories, a teaching museum and herbarium, and laboratories for aquatics, forensics, nursing and medical laboratory sciences. In addition, this complex will provide new facilities for teaching, student and faculty research, and seminars/conferences.

The department of biological and allied health sciences occupies the first floor of the Meyer Hall of Science and the first and third floors of the new 95,000-square-foot Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences.
