Gallery Season and Exhibitions

Operated by the department of art & design, the University’s exhibition program serves as a vital means for engaging the Ohio Northern community and the Northwest Central Ohio region in the visual arts. The gallery season is designed to serve as an educational and cultural resource, to host national and international touring exhibitions, and to host original exhibits distinctly suited to an academic environment.

The University exhibition venues include two galleries on campus:
• the Elzay Gallery of Art located on Gilbert Street
• and the Stambaugh Studio Theatre Gallery located on College Avenue adjacent to the Performing Arts Center.

Providing an important educational experience, this year’s exhibition program features shows and events of invited artists and designers who encourage dialogue about the visual arts: studio processes, history, theory and criticism, curation and cultural contexts. The season also provides a window of opportunity which members of the University and local communities become familiar with the work of students and faculty, as well as the broader creative community.

In addition to these exhibition venues, students and faculty present their work throughout the University, the local region, across the State, and nationally. Visit the A&D News section of our Web site to read about these accomplishments.

Admission to the Elzay Gallery of Art and the Stambaugh Studio Theatre Gallery is free and open to the public daily from noon to 5p.m. The Stambaugh Gallery is also open prior to Freed Center events. For additional information, to schedule a tour or to be placed on the arts exhibition mailing list, please contact the department of art & design at (419) 772-2160 or art@onu.edu.
