Dr. Brian Keas - Faculty Fellow and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs

Brian earned the Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Hope College in 1992, followed by the Master of Science in Biology from Wake Forest University, and the Ph.D. in Zoology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and Behavior from Michigan State University. His research interests include aspects of invertebrate ecology ranging from host-parasite interactions to aquatic ecology and forensic entomology.

He joined the faculty at ONU in 2000 and is currently an Associate Professor of Biology in the Department of Biological and Allied Health Sciences. Departmental roles included co-authoring a significant change to the Introductory Zoology Laboratory and helping to implement the Field Semester for the Field and Environmental Biology major in 2011. In 2005 and 2009, he led students to Ecuador to study the Natural History of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

In August 2012, Brian began as the Faculty Fellow and Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. In this new role, his responsibilities include assisting with university assessment and accreditation, as well as other initiatives within Academic Affairs. He is also overseeing the study abroad programs at ONU and seeking to increase international understanding and participation by ONU students and faculty.
