ONU to hold entrepreneurship workshops

The Ohio Northern University Entrepreneur Center is holding a series of workshops on entrepreneurship. Preceding each workshop will be a networking event from 5:30- 6 p.m. The sessions will follow and conclude at 7 p.m. All workshops are free and open to the public. These workshops were scheduled at the request of the ONU chapter of Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO), whose mission is to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation.        “CEO wanted to meet other students interested in entrepreneurship and network with actual entrepreneurs in the area,” says Tammy Schakett, assistant professor of entrepreneurship in... continue reading

Entrepreneurship workshop to focus on business plans

The Entrepreneur Center in the James F. Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University will open its series of entrepreneurship workshops on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Dicke Forum. The event is free and open to the public. Michele A. Govekar, professor of management at ONU, will present the first workshop, “Why Do I Need a Business Plan?” Govekar teaches undergraduate courses in management, organizational behavior, and business policy and strategy. Lecture series to host TeleTech CIO

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University will present Carol Kline, executive vice president and chief information officer at TeleTech Holdings Inc., on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing arts.Part of the College of Business Administration Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series, Kline’s lecture is titled “The Shift to a Digital, Mobile and Social Consumer.”At TeleTech, Kline is responsible for driving the company’s IT strategy and operations, which includes the launch of TeleTech’s new generation technology. College of Business Administration conducts student honor code ceremony

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke of College Business Administration conducted its student honor code ceremony for incoming freshmen on Tuesday, Sept. 6. David Crago, ONU’s interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the Pettit College of Law, presided over the ceremony. The honor code details the college’s commitment to developing global leaders by instilling the values of integrity, leadership, teamwork, continuous improvement and community service. ONU makes articulation agreement with North Central State College

Ohio Northern University has established an articulation agreement with North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio.This agreement will help manage transfer policies, enhance advising and simplify the transfer of courses or credits between the programs. These agreements will make it easier for students from North Central State College to transfer to ONU’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.Students from the community college will be required to meet the pre-established criteria to be admitted to the College of Business Administration. If the transferring student earns an associate degree and completes the defined transfer program, he or she will be able to enroll as a junior in Ohio Northern’s BSBA program. ONU College of Business Administration to launch its first graduate degree program

The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University has announced its first graduate degree program: the master of professional practice in accounting (MPPA). Set to begin in fall 2012, this program will enable accounting professionals to obtain enough credit hours to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam while simultaneously earning a master’s degree in the professional practice of accounting.“This new graduate program will be a distinctive addition to the college’s program offerings,” says Dr. James Fenton Jr., dean of the College of Business Administration. “We have developed a very different accounting graduate program compared to most on the market.”Students enrolled in the program can choose... continue reading

Students to participate in Hanyang University Summer Program

Eleven undergraduate students from Ohio Northern University have been selected to participate in the Hanyang University Summer Program for 2011.These students, who leave June 23, will spend four weeks in summer studies at Hanyang University in South Korea. Students from each of the University’s four undergraduate colleges have received fellowships for 2011. In addition, two exchange students also have been chosen for the program.This is the fifth year for the exchange agreement between Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, and Ohio Northern. The fellowships include four weeks of summer study at Hanyang University, tuition, housing and excursion costs. Students also receive a stipend to apply toward the cost of airfare. Grant to support MI Ready College Preparedness program

Ohio Northern University has been awarded a grant from Husky Energy to support the Multiple Intelligence (MI) Ready College Preparedness program. As one of the activities honoring 125 years of refinery operations in Lima, Ohio, ONU received the grant at the Allen County Museum on June 12.A partnership program between Ohio Northern University and Lima Senior High School of Multiple Intelligences, the MI Ready College Preparedness Program focuses on helping students prepare for and keep on track to obtain a college education. The grant of $30,000 will be used to support the program over the next three years.The MI Ready program maintains a college presence for 100 high school students in the School of Multiple... continue reading

Outstanding students receive Dankook Award

Ohio Northern University presented the Dankook Award to Kyle R. Stinehart, a 2011 graduate from Pemberville, Ohio, and Kyle S. Simmons, a 2011 graduate from North Lawrence, Ohio, in a ceremony prior to the undergraduate commencement on Sunday, May 22.Presented since 1999, the Dankook Award is an annual reciprocal award exchanged between Dankook University in South Korea and Ohio Northern University.
