Sherrod Brown to speak at undergraduate commencement

Ohio Northern University will celebrate its 2011 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony in the Sport Center on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. Approximately 600 students will be awarded degrees.Sherrod Brown, a U.S. senator from Ohio, will deliver the commencement address. Brown, who will receive an honorary doctorate of law, has held more than 170 community roundtables across Ohio’s 88 counties with local leaders and business owners, entrepreneurs and educators, and workers and families to find ways to rebuild the economy. ONU makes articulation agreement with two community colleges

Ohio Northern University has established articulation agreements with Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, and Owens Community College in Perrysburg and Findlay, Ohio, to manage transfer policies, enhance advising and simplify the transfer of courses or credits between the programs.These agreements will make it easier for students from the two community colleges to transfer to ONU’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.Students from the community colleges will be required to meet the pre-established criteria to be admitted to the College of Business Administration. Employment law attorney to speak

Ohio Northern University will host Kelly Jennings Yeoman, partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Columbus, on Tuesday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. in room 230 of James F. Dicke Hall. The event, sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is free and open to the public. Ohio Northern to recognize academic achievement at Honors Day

Ohio Northern University celebrates its 39th annual Honors Day program on Saturday, May 7, from 8:15 a.m. until 5 p.m.This year’s Honors Day continues the rich tradition of ONU’s colleges and departments recognizing students and faculty members for scholarly achievement and service to the University community. Student elected to SAM Executive Board

Ohio Northern University student Matthew Dutro, a junior management major from Dayton, Ohio, was elected to the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) Executive Board at the SAM International Business Conference in Orlando, Fla, which took place from Thursday, March 31, to Sunday, April 3.“I am really honored to be given this opportunity,” said Dutro. “Even though I only just joined SAM this year, I feel as though I am well prepared to effectively take on this responsibility.”Each year, three students are elected to serve as full voting members of the SAM governing board. Ohio Northern University’s Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) chapter took first place in the Campus Chapter Performance competition this year at the Society for the Advancement of Management’s International Business Conference, which took place in Orlando, Fla., from March 31 to April 3.A group of 10 students traveled to Orlando for the competition, which is designed to reward chapters for their good management skills. SAM wins first place in small chapter Campus Chapter Performance Program

Ten Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) students traveled to Orlando FL March 31-April 3 for the case competition at the SAM International Business Conference.  The Campus Chapter Performance Program is designed to reward chapters for practicing good management skills. To compete a chapter must have a minimum of 15 paid members and  submit an annual report of why the chapter should be considered among the three most outstanding chapters in their division. Reports are five pages long with exhibits and/or appendices added to substantiate the year's accomplishments. DCBA's IMA National Case Competition Team Advances to Elite 8

     The video case presentation created by the National Case Competition team of the DCBA's chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants has been selected as one of the Elite 8 in the Nation.  The team's presentation will now advance to the second round of judging, where the Final 4 will be selected.  These four teams will compete live at IMA’s 92nd Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, June 5th, for the top prize.  In her congratulatory note, Jodi Ryan, IMA’s Director of Alliances & Student/Academic Communities said “It is an honor and achievement to be among the Elite 8 in the student case competition.”      The members of the team... continue reading

ONU to present symposium on Division III athletics

Ohio Northern University presents “Paying the Price To Play: a symposium on the Division III Student Athlete Experience” on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Forum of James F. Dicke Hall.The ONU History, Politics and Justice Department and the Office of Multicultural Affairs are sponsoring the event, which will feature two panels over a two-hour period.
