Internship Requirements
Majors in the ONU Exercise Physiology program must complete an off-campus allied health experiential internship at a location of their choice as part of their capstone experience for graduation. The purpose of the internship is to expose the students to real world professional environments in the allied health profession. Internships must be completed during the summer after the junior or senior year. Example internships include:
- Cardiac Rehabilitation
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Strength and Conditionin
- Personal Training
- Commercial Fitness Facility Operations
Before participating in an internship, the student must:
- Achieve junior status
- Successfully complete EXPH 3101 and EXPH 3151 (Exercise Testing and Prescription I and II)
- Contact and initiate their projected internship site and preceptor
- Receive approval from the Exercise Physiology Program Coordinator
- Register for EXPH 4501 (Exercise Physiology Internship) and EXPH 4601 (Exercise Physiology Internship Seminar)
