Civil engineering students receive scholarships

Two Ohio Northern University civil engineering students were each awarded a $500 scholarship from the Toledo Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on Monday, Nov. 5.Sarah Massella, a senior from Bridgeport, Pa., and Katherine Bowman, a junior from Richfield, Ohio, were the recipients of the award. Paper evaluates Dominican Republic teacher workshops

Drs. Reid and Baumgartner publish book chapter

Dr. Ken Reid and Dr. Eric Baumgartner of the T. J. Smull College of Engineering have published a chapter in the book "Advancing the STEM Agenda: Quality Improvement Supports STEM." The chapter, titled "Toward a New Paradigm: A Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Engineering Education," describes Ohio Northern's B.S. in Engineering Education program, now entering it's second year. Reid published in the Journal of STEM Education

Dr. Ken Reid, program director of engineering education and director of first-year engineering, has published an article in the Journal of STEM Education: Innovations and Research. Reid's article, "Comparison of ‘Typical’ vs. Open Ended Ethics Case Studies in First-Year Engineering," focuses on the use of expanded case studies in the study of ethics in first-year engineering. The latest issue, Volume 13, Issue 4, is now available online.
