Percussion Ensemble
The ONU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Sarah Waters, performs a wide range of collegiate and professional level literature for percussion. Recent performances included such pieces as Dietz’ “Sharpened Stick,” Westlake’s “Omphalo Centric Lecture,” Mark Ford’s “Head Talk” and “Stubernik,” and Zivcovik’s “Trio Per Uno.” Dr. Waters often programs student compositions for percussion ensemble and occasionally appoints students to conduct the group.
In March of 2012, the group’s cross-country travel involved concerts at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee and at Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in addition to a home concert at Presser Hall. The tour included a drum set concerto, a solo horn and percussion ensemble, and two compositions written for the ONU Steel Band by Dr. Gary Powell Nash.
