Management involves planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Management majors analyze and formulate approaches to problem solving in a constantly changing business environment. Managers must understand the core business functions and put theory into practice by anticipating and solving organizational problems.

What courses do management majors take?

Students develop a knowledge base in management theory, accounting, managerial finance, international business, economics, human resources, marketing, economics and international management. Managers hone their communications and interpersonal skills and work to understand their individual management styles.

Do I need an internship?

Yes, management majors are required to participate in an internship during their junior or senior year. Statistics reveal that more than 50 percent of student internships become full-time employment opportunities upon graduation.

How can I get involved as a management major?

The Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) provides opportunities for members to increase their management skills and expertise. Members participate in programs and services designed to improve the professional quality of their knowledge, performance and leadership abilities. Sigma Iota Epsilon is an honorary and professional fraternity that encourages scholastic excellence and promotes cooperation between the academic and practical aspects of management.
