ME Senior Capstone Projects
All students in the mechanical engineering department are required to complete a year-long senior capstone project. Each project team researches an open-ended problem statement, develops a proposal, designs a prototype, validates the design, produces a deliverable, and reports the results. As part of the experience, students deal with various management issues and technical aspects of design. Both industry- and faculty-sponsored projects are offered with some projects being interdisciplinary (i.e. containing majors other than ME). Our approach to the senior capstone provides valuable real-world experiences for our students and prepares our graduates for their industrial careers.
