Elementary School Piano Camp — 1st through 4th grade, with at least 6 months previous piano experience.
The Theme: Question: What makes this piano sing?
Answer: ME!
This camp will focus on how to be an expressive and creative pianist. By the end of the week, each student will have explored expressive elements found in music and the technique necessary to accomplish them through interactive discussions, listening activities, lessons, and games. Each student will be involved in composing a piece of music that includes musical elements of their choosing. Students will also be placed in duet, trio, or quartet combinations for performance at the Friday recital. The camp meets Mon – Thurs from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m., with a recital on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The Theme: Being an Expressive & Intelligent Pianist: How do we take what we see on a page of notes and turn it into music?
This camp will explore the expressive elements of music by studying the Themes and Variations of great composers. Technique, musical character, intelligent listening, and expressive playing will be explored interactively and incorporated into a solo piece of the student’s choosing. Students will compose their own Theme and Variations, and will be placed in duo or trio combinations for performance at the Friday recital. Friday’s schedule will also include the very popular MUSICAL OLYMPICS! This camp meets Mon – Fri from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with a recital on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
