"The Campaign for Ohio Northern University's Tomorrow," a comprehensive fundraising campaign to raise $100 million over six years, was announced at a campaign kickoff celebration Saturday, Nov. 1.

The announcement kicks off the public phase of the campaign. The quiet phase, which took place during the past two years, has generated more than $65 million of the $100 million goal for priority projects, scholarships, facilities and initiatives across the academic disciplines.

Ohio Northern University has been undergoing a new era of construction to build premier facilities equal to the growing reputation of the campus as a leading University.

"We are grateful for the extraordinary support given to the campaign by the Ohio Northern family and friends," said Dr. Kendall L. Baker, ONU president. "Their generosity in these challenging times helps us to strengthen our top-notch faculty, enhance opportunities for our talented students and meet the needs and demands of the 21st century."

The early success towards the campaign goal was boosted by some generous donations, including a major gift from Clayton and MaryAnn Mathile for the construction of a science center and a significant gift from the Dicke family for the naming of The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.

National Campaign Chairman Oscar Mifsud, a 1970 graduate of ONU, noted the campaign's great start, and expects the momentum to continue over the next several years. "ONU is an innovative and dynamic university, and I am very proud of the efforts that have been put forth by our donors," he said. "ONU's national stature and reputation is, in large part, a tribute to the shared vision of our alumni and friends, to whom we offer our sincere and profound thanks."
