Can I have a car on-campus as a first year student?
Yes. All students are permitted to bring a vehicle to campus and required to register their vehicle by purchasing a parking permit from the Security Office. The Security Office can be reached at 419-772-2222.
How do I get a parking pass?
All students wishing to purchase a parking pass can click here. Permits will go on sale on July 1, 2013. Questions can be directed to the Security Office at 419-772-2222.
Why should I attend Summer Orientation?
There are many important things to address in order to begin a successful journey. Summer Orientation is the place to start. During the Summer Orientation, you will schedule fall classes with an academic advisor, take your picture for your photo ID, and learn about crucial student support services as well as opportunities for getting involved.
Is there a cost associated with Summer Orientation?
The cost of Summer Orientation is covered by your enrollment deposit and includes the new student and two (2) family members. If you would like to bring additional guests, a fee of $15 per person will be assessed. Please contact Melissa Klinger (firstname.lastname@example.org or 419-772-2561) to make arrangements.
How do I make a reservation for Summer Orientation?
After you have received your username and password in the mail, visit the registration site to make a reservation. Upon receiving your confirmation of your date for orientation, you will need to complete your reservation through the Orientation Information site.
How will I know which Summer Orientation session I will be attending?
After completing the online reservation form, you will receive an email indicating your information has been received. You will then receive a second email with confirmation of the session you should plan to attend.
Are my parents required to attend Summer Orientation?
Parents and/or family members are welcome and encouraged to attend Summer Orientation.
Where can I stay the night before Summer Orientation?
On-campus housing options are available for new students and parents. If you are interested in staying on-campus, please visit the housing registration form for information and to complete a reservation.
Why am I required to attend Fall Orientation?
Fall Orientation is an opportunity for new students living on-campus and community to ONU to continue exploring campus after their Summer Orientation visit and become better acquainted with their new home and campus family. It is an introduction to your first semester at ONU, including a review of academic expectations and an introduction to the resources and tools you need to be aware of during your time at ONU.
Is there any cost associated with Fall Orientation?
No. There is no additional cost for Fall Orientation.
As a commuter, what events do I attend?
Fall Orientation is required for students community to campus, too. You will have an opportunity to connect with peers and upper-class students and learn about the commuter experience.
Do parents/family members attend any part of Fall Orientation?
Yes! Parents and family members are encouraged to help with move-in and getting the new student settled. During the afternoon, students will attend their first course and family members will be able to attend separate courses on a variety of topics. After the courses, family members and student will join with faculty and staff for Convocation followed by a farewell dinner. The first student event begins at 7:30pm but family members are welcome to help students get settled and hang out throughout the day until that time.
With all of the events planned for Fall Orientation, when will I have time to get settled and prepare for the first day of classes?
Fall Orientation is packed for a reason! You will only have one Fall Orientation as a first-year student; take advantage of it! The weekend may seem packed to you, but you do not want to miss out on all of the opportunities! The schedule on Sunday also provides for downtime for new students as well.
Residence Life Move-In
How do I get information about living on campus?
You will receive a letter from Admissions with the link to fill out your housing application. You will also receive this link at Orientation. Keep an eye on MyHousing for housing application information.
When will I receive information about my residence hall assignment?
As soon as your housing assignment is complete, you will be able to view it on MyHousing. Housing assignments will be made available by August 1.
When do I move-in to my residence hall?
Move-in for new students is on Thursday, August 22. Residence Halls will open at 8:00am.
