Programming

Programming promotes community in the halls. The purpose of programming is three-fold: (1) it allows for vital interactions between staff and their residents; (2) programming serves as a fundamental component of community building within a hall or wing; (3) dividing programs into distinct categories ensures that residents are offered the chance to grow and develop while living in a vibrant community.
In order to promote balanced educational programming within each residential area, the Office of Residence Life has adopted a programming classification system known as the “A.C.H.I.E.V.E.M.E.N.T.” model. This model divides programming into several categories; each of these categories can entail a wide range of types and styles of programming. "A.C.H.I.E.V.E.M.E.N.T." stands for:
- Academic success
- Cultural awareness and diversity appreciation
- Health and wellness
- Identity development
- Educational endeavors
- Values and spirituality
- Engagement in service
- Music and arts appreciation
- Entrepreneurship
- N’tertainment
- Targeted needs
Your residence life staff members work hard to provide at least two (2) activities per floor per term. These programs vary greatly and can include anything from educational sessions (e.g., programs teaching you how to cook or maintain a budget) to entertainment and movie nights. Additionally, each hall hosts at least one all-campus event each year. This year's all-hall events include:
- 5UP/Northern House Bingo
- Affinity Fun Run
- Apartment Trick or Treat
- Apartment Sand Volleyball
- Founders Hall Mud Volleyball
- Lima Casino Night
- Maglott Kickball
- Park Hall Hoops

In addition to programs in the halls, the Student Planning Committee (SPC) plans programs for every Tuesday and Friday during the school year. SPC exists to provide a diverse range of quality entertainment for the Ohio Northern campus community while establishing a fun and creative environment that instills teambuilding, communication, and leadership skills for successful living.
