The gender and sexuality minor is an interdisciplinary program. Professors from across the University teach the courses, providing you with unique perspectives on how gender and sexuality influence a wide range of fields. The minor requires 19 credit hours. You’ll take a required introductory course and can then choose from a list of electives in a wid variety of subjects. After earning most of your credit hours, you will then take a portfolio course in which you will integrate what you learned in the variety of other classes. You’ll gain a deeper understanding in theories of gender and sexuality; social construction of race, gender and class; how power and privilege infuse all aspects of daily life; and the intersectionality of race, gender, inequality, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation and class. The gender and sexuality minor could complement any major.
