Each year, we celebrate Dr. King’s legacy at the first chapel service of the spring semester, in part to recall and recognize his historic visit to our campus in January of 1968, and in part to remind ourselves that Dr. King was, first and foremost, a preacher of the gospel, and a pastor to his flock. It was at the invitation of our then-chaplain, Dr. James Udy, that Dr. King came to our campus, and we seek to recognize each year that it was a chapel service at which Dr. King spoke on that occasion. We would be pleased and honored if you could continue the legacy of helping us honor Dr. King’s legacy with preaching.
Dr. Sharetta Smith, Mayor of Lima and an ONU law graduate will be our speaker for the MLK Day Chapel on January 23rd.
