The School of Visual and Performing Arts at Ohio Northern University will hold its annual Day of Dance intensive on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 1 - 5 p.m., for intermediate to advanced dancers in grades six through 12.
Participants will study with ONU dance faculty and guest artists in four 50-minute classes consisting of a warm-up and progressions, tap, contemporary, and jazz. Registration for the Day of Dance will also include one free admission to the performance, “Looking Back, Moving Forward: Celebrating 30 Years of ONU Dance,” on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. in ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
Day of Dance registration is available online at onu.edu/event/day-dance-2024. The registration fee is $35 per dancer. Dancers are encouraged to register early to secure their spot as space is limited. Additional tickets for “Looking Back, Moving Forward” can be purchased at the time of registration at a discounted rate of $5 each.
In 2017, ONU director of dance and assistant professor Elizabeth Cozad-Howard took her love of classical training and concert dance to create ONU's annual Day of Dance. The mission for the one-day intensive for local dancers is to promote, share, and experience dance on the ONU campus with younger generations.
Cozad-Howard holds an MFA in dance from Saint Mary’s College of California and a BFA in dance from Wright State University. Additionally, she is certified in functional awareness and progressing ballet technique for dancers. Cozad-Howard started her teaching career with the Dayton Ballet School and Lyn’s Academy of Dance. At ONU, she instructs ballet, modern, and dance theory courses while overseeing more than 50 students minoring in the dance program.
