ADA, OHIO, (Nov. 2, 2024) Ohio Northern University dedicated new state-of-the-art bleachers at Dial-Roberson Stadium on November 2, 2024. The bleachers, gifted by alumnus Ted Stambaugh, BS ’77, add nearly 500 seats to the stadium, more than doubling the capacity on the visitor side.
“We are extremely grateful for Ted Stambaugh’s generosity and support,” said ONU President Melissa Baumann, Ph.D. “Completing the visitor side seating takes Dial-Roberson stadium to the next level and will benefit generations of student athletes and fans.”
Stambaugh graduated with a BS in biology from ONU in 1977. He went on to a long and successful leadership career in food innovation, safety, and quality at food giants Borden, Kellogg’s, Pillsbury, and General Mills.
A three-year letterman in football, he played for three ONU coaching greats – Wally Hood and Stretch Roberson (football) and Herb Strayer (baseball). Stambaugh credits the three for inspiring him to lead a life of integrity and achievement.
“All three men loved teaching, coaching, and ONU,” Stambaugh said. “Athletics and the academic training I received prepared me for success. With God’s providence, I am able to give back to honor all the great people that influenced me along the way. I am forever grateful.”
With Hood’s endorsement Stambaugh attended the rookie camp for the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes after graduation. He went on to earn a BS degree and MS degree in 1979 and 1981 respectively from the Ohio State University.
Stambaugh was introduced as an honorary captain at Saturday’s matchup against John Carroll and participated in the coin toss at the start of the game.
