Choose your path

ONU’s Biomedical Engineering concentration welcomes students in our mechanical, electrical, computer engineering, or computer science bachelor’s degree programs. The curriculum requires 129 to 130 credit hours, depending on your major, to complete your bachelor’s degree with a concentration in biomedical engineering.

Through our rigorous coursework, you gain a solid foundation in the principles of engineering and develop your skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. With this background, you discover the connections between engineering and human health as you journey through essential knowledge in biology, anatomy, and physiology, all while venturing into specialized topics, including:

The concentration includes required courses and lab sessions in human anatomy and physiology, and you must take three biomedical engineering electives. Under the guidance of our faculty, you'll apply your knowledge to pioneer new solutions with an experiential senior capstone project, which may be sponsored by healthcare organizations or medical technology companies.

Do you plan to pursue a pre-professional program such as pre-med? We encourage you to take the Biomedical Sciences minor, which examines topics like genetics, histology, molecular biology, and chemistry more deeply than the Biomedical Engineering concentration.
